Striking Changes in Arizona as Illegal Immigrants Flee the State

May 20th, 2008

Hoo Ha.. Who woulda thunk it? Clearing out illegal aliens in a state actually has a NET benefit! This should silence all of those people who say our economy might collapse withouth the labor of illegal aliens. Funny how an economy can rebound when you remove the PARASITES.

Since Arizona’s local law enforcement began enforcing illegal immigration laws and an employer sanctions law went into effect, illegal immigrants have been fleeing the state in large numbers. The effects have been far-ranging. Commuters are reporting fewer vehicles on the freeways, shortening their rush-hour commutes. What had become a serious transportation problem in Arizona is losing its urgency. viva la migra English Learner Language (ELL) students started dropping out of school. This helped end a confrontation between the state legislature and a liberal federal judge who had ordered the state to spend more money on ELL classes.

Fewer illegal immigrants are using hospital emergency rooms, so waiting times have decreased. Although the rest of the country is in an economic slump, unemployment is going down in Arizona, from 4.5% in January to 4.1% in March. Day laborers loitering outside of Home Depot and other stores have mostly disappeared, ending months of confrontation between illegal immigrant sympathizers and protesters. Desert lands near the border are returning to their pristine condition and the wildlife is coming back. Identity theft and car thefts are decreasing. No one showed up on May 1 to march in immigrant rallies.

With illegal immigrants leaving, the state will see huge savings as fewer illegal immigrants use social welfare programs and the cost of arresting, prosecuting, incarcerating and deporting them decreases. Arizona is facing one of the worst budget deficits ever, looming as high as $2 billion in 2009, but the situation may resolve itself.

It’s wonderful that we are getting to see this experiment in action so that the lies and propaganda being spread by the open borders zealots can be silenced for good. Arizona can become a shining example for the rest of the country. THIS is how you fix the problem of illegal immigration!

Another Border Agent Under Fire for Doing his Job - Nicholas Corbett

February 28th, 2008

Here we go again - another border agent trying to do his job is accused of murder. Unbelievable how the prosecutor is trying to make out Nicholas Corbett to be a cold blooded killer and using the corrupted testimony of the OTHER illegal aliens, all related or friends with the rock throwing illegal alien. Oh I am sure they are being honest.. yeah right!

Murder trial of Border Patrol agent begins with vastly different stories

By Josh Brodesky - Arizona Daily Star

Opening statements began today in the trial of a U.S. Border Patrol agent accused of murdering an illegal entrant last year, with attorneys from both sides presenting radically different stories about what prompted the shooting.

Nicholas Corbett is charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter and negligent homicide in the killing of Francisco Javier Domínguez Rivera in January of 2007.

On Jan. 12 of last year, Corbett shot and killed the 22-year-old man in the desert between Bisbee and Douglas about 150 yards north of the border.

The shooting occurred while Corbett was trying to detain Domínguez Rivera, his two brothers and the girlfriend of one of the brothers, all of whom had entered the country illegally from Mexico.

But what prompted the shooting is the key question in the trial.

Prosecutor Grant Woods, a former state attorney general who has been hired by the Cochise County attorney to prosecute the case, said Domínguez Rivera and the three others were surrendering to Corbett.

The four were walking back to the border, when Corbett stopped them, Woods said. He said they were then ordered to get down on their knees and Corbett shot Domínguez Rivera from behind.

“This young man — while surrendering, going down on his knees, putting his hands in the air — from behind was hit, yanked and shot through the heart,” Woods said.

Forensics evidence, witnesses, an autopsy report and a video will support such a description of the shooting, Woods said.

I wonder if the autopsy report will show the huge ROCK he had in his hands. I bet they will find he was STANDING when he was shot. That should shoot some holes in Woods’ theory. Seems the border patrol needs to get dash mounted cameras that cover their apprehensions of illegals so we are not faced with the word of a bunch of Spanish speaking illegal aliens against that of a Border Patrol Agent in cases like theses.

Meanwhile, Sean Chapman, lead defense attorney for Corbett, said Domínguez Rivera was not surrendering at the time of the shooting, but in fact threatened Corbett with a baseball-sized rock.

“Nick Corbett had to defend himself, and he had to defend himself against Mr. Domínguez, who was trying to crush his skull with a rock,” Chapman said.

The decision to shoot was a split-second one, which fell in line with Border Patrol policy for use of force, he said.

Chapman said he will present expert testimony to this effect as well as testimony that will show the shooting could have occurred in a way that matches Corbett’s description.

He also noted that investigators left behind Domínguez Rivera’s gloves at the scene, which he said could have been used to find forensic evidence to show Domínguez Rivera was holding a rock.

Finally, Chapman said the three witnesses were corrupted because of influence from the Mexican consulate as well as the fact that investigators failed to separate them in the hours after the shooting. The trial is continuing throughout the day and expected to last two weeks.

If convicted, Corbett faces a maximum of 22 years in prison.

Elvira Arellano denied entrance to Canada for “immigrant rights” march!

February 13th, 2008

This just in from Jeff Schwilk of San Diego Minutemen. Yay for Canada!

TRANSLATED FROM:

The government of Canada denied entrance to their country to the Mexican activist Elvira Arellano, who last Sunday arrived at the Vancouver airport to participate in a demonstration. Elvira

By Telephone from Michoacán, where she already had returned, Elvira did not want to comment. “I could not enter Canada, but I cannot comment”, she mentioned. (Could it be because she’s a convicted criminal fugitive alien???)

Elvira Arellano went to the northern country to participate in an event at the border with the United States, on the Canadian side, the activities were carried out by members of the Migrant March III that left last February 2 from San Diego, California.

Elvira Arellano was an undocumented immigrant that called international attention in August 2006, when she took refuge in a church of Chicago avoiding deportation to Mexico. A year after its confinement left the temple to promote a migratory reform and in one of its first activities in Los Angeles was arrested by immigration agents and deported to Mexico.

“This is not right”, said Enrique Morones, leader of the caravan, “many activists arrived at both sides of the border to meet her, but they wouldn’t let her in”.

Morones added that the location where the encounter would have taken place on Monday, is a park that crosses the border, known as Peace Arch State Park.

In spite of the absence of Elvira, the activists carried out in at the location a vigil and a protest.

“She was going to participate with us at the Canadian side, it was going to be a moment of reflection and of prayer at the border, to carry the message that your vote is your voice, but she could not arrive”, commented Morones.

“In theory she should have no problems entering being a Mexican”, commented a source that asked not to be identified “What must have happended is that due to her record in the United States they (Canadian immigration officials) saw her as a possible candidate to remain illegally in Canada… they share lists with the United States”.

Mexican Illegal Alien Stepfather Abandons 5 year old in Desert To Flee From Border Patrol

January 31st, 2008

This just in, from the Arizona Daily Star, the same paper that trumpeted how Jesus Manuel Cordova was a “hero” for “rescuing” Christopher Buchleitner after his mother rolled her van down an embankment in a remote area of Pena Blanca Lake camping area. So, I guess we won’t hear the TRUTH from the AZStar on this one - that this STEPFATHER rather leave his 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER alone in the desert rather than be caught by the Border Patrol.. Now there’s some great family values to emulate eh? How come we don’t see Mexico promoting this story which is MORE true of their illegal alien criminals than the Jesus Manuel Cordova story. Maybe they promoted that supposed “rescue” (which was not a rescue at all as it turns out) because most illegal aliens are like THIS guy - leaving his own 5 year old step daughter in the freezing desert.. Nice…

BP agents locate Mexican girl lost in wilderness

Agents with the Border Patrol’s search, trauma and rescue team found a 5-year-old Mexican girl alone and crying in the rugged mountain terrain of Cochise County on Friday morning.

Candy Gabriela Barranco-Gonzalez, of the state of Mexico, Mexico, survived a frigid night in the Miller Peak area of the Huachuca Mountains southwest of Sierra Vista.

Officials said she became separated from her stepfather late Thursday evening during an attempt to illegally enter the country, Cochise County sheriff’s spokeswoman Carol Capas said.

The girl appeared to be suffering from initial stages of hypothermia but other than that was in decent condition, Capas said. She was transported to the Sierra Vista Regional Health Care Center .

The separation occurred at about 10 p.m. Thursday night when a Border Patrol agent encountered a group of 13 illegal entrants in the Miller Peak area, said Jesús Rodriguez, Border Patrol Tucson Sector spokesman.

*snip*

That spurred the Border Patrol to launch an extensive search of the area. At least two law-enforcement helicopters, along with a sheriff’s Search and Rescue team and Border Patrol agents, led the search for the girl in an area about eight miles north of the Arizona-Mexico border.

What parent would leave their 5 year old child behind EVER much less with nighttime freezing desert conditions?????

It had been cold, with temperatures dipping down to about 20 degrees in the area where she was found.

Oh and it seems the Border Patrol is bringing the family together rather than separating them:

They have located her mother, Mercedes Barranco Gonzalez, 25, in Ciudad Juarez

So again I ponder - what MOTHER would allow someone to take her 5 year old child on a dangerous border crossing into the US? What kind of parents are these two who think nothing of endangering the life of their CHILD and think nothing of leaving them behind in the desert to evade capture by the Border Patrol?

Gee thank God for the Border Patrol because they FOUND the girl and rescued her - but you won’t see them getting any AWARDS for doing so now will you.
