Absolut Traitors - Absolut Vodka Panders to Mexico with Reconquista Ads

April 3rd, 2008

Absolut Traitors

Take a good look at this billboard ad from Absolut Vodka apparently spotted in Mexico.. or gee was it Southern California? Apparently Absolut Vodka is all for seditious activity - supporting the enemy invaders from Mexico and their claim that we stole land from Mexico. Can it get ANY MORE OUTRAGEOUS THAN THIS?

Thanks to Michele Malkin here and to Gayle Kesselman of NJCIC for the tip. This has and will go viral in the Patriot blogosphere I can tell you that. Absolut Vodka has underestimated the ABSOLUT wrath that will be unleashed upon their company by patriotic Americans for this absolut sellout of our country to pander to what they see as the coming “Hispanic” market. I don’t think you’ll be around long enough to take advantage of your pandering.

Here is who you can call to express your Absolut DISGUST:

Here’s a comment on the original article which was written by an author who was supportive of the ad. The commenter, formerly of Mexico, has a unique perspective on all this Reconquista stuff. Found the comment and tip to it here on Immigration Watchdog:

I was born and raised end educated in Mexico, this has got to be the biggest sour grapes ad ever. We lost tons of what was then OUR territory, because we were weak, stupid and corrupt, no one in Mexico cared about 2/3 of the old Nueva Espana until after they discovered gold in California and no one in Mexico cared about that territory untli the USA built it up with roads, cities, towns, services, industry in the early 20th century. Guess what, it’s the 21st century and Mexico is still weak, stupid and corrupt, socially, economically and govermentally. Instead of wroking to build a great society, instead of mexican society working as a team and building a 1st class country with the tons of human an natural resources we have, we covet jealously what we could have had, what the USA became and is, it because the Americans are smart and they have their checks and balances socially, politically and economically they built an empire out of 13 piece of dirt colonies, the Spaniards gave us an empire in term of land and as a society we pissed it away, the problem is that mexican never look at themselves as the problem, which we are, naturally we always look at some one else to blame for our own failings.

We suck as a culture, we suck as a society, we suck as a country, were a third rate wannabe leftist dictatorship aka a latina american democracy that can never get it’s act straight. I had the good fortune of marrying into an American family that embraced me regardless of my origins these social and political conservatives are some of the most generous and hard working people and some of the closest nit humans you will find, I am lucky to have left Mexico, and I will never return to Mexico, I will die for the USA and my sons will die for the USA because it has given me everything.

What has Mexico ever given me? Nada.

I toast my glass of STOLI to Fabricio! Well said my friend, well said!

***** Update *****

The backlash is working an Absolut is in full back peddling mode. Here is an email I have just received with more details on the Mexican Ad Agency that created this ad and a list of their other clients which we shall now boycott as well:

The colorful ad, created by the Teran\TBWA agency and the vodka maker, is a sight gag depicting what a map of North America might look like “In an Absolut world,” i.e., a perfect one.

It shows the Mexican border extending, very roughly, to its position during the 1800s before the Mexican-American War.

At that time, California as we now know it was part of Mexican territory and known as Alta California. Those territories eventually became U.S. property after the voluntary annexation of Texas and, later, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.

Jeffrey Moran, a spokesman for Absolut in New York, said Friday that the company had received numerous complaints about the ad, which won’t be running in the United States. The ads ran for about two months in Mexico and had been scheduled to end this week.

Moran acknowledged that the ad had inflamed the already heated immigration debate and that the campaign had been accused of being anti-American, which he said was “never the intention of Absolut.”

“This ad certainly has nothing to do with immigration issues or anti-Mexican sentiments,” Moran said. “It’s based on a historical perspective on what Mexico was once. That’s all.”

The Swedes got blind-sided BIG TIME by their Mexican ad agency.  I don’t think that the makers of Absolut understood what was really going on with this Reconquista map ad.  Absolut is being punished for the activities of a Mexican company.  To be fair, we need to punish the Mexican company, too.

You will notice that the map only showed the parts of Mexico ceded to the US, but not the southern parts that broke away and formed the Central American countries.  Had the Mexican ad been only about “better times” in Mexico, the map would have shown the “Mexican Empire” extending all the way to Panama.  This was a well thought out propaganda assault on the USA by a Mexican company.  They should feel the heat and the pain for their error in judgement and their blatant propaganda attack upon the USA.

So, while I still will boycott Absolut (buy American, buy Skyy) I think we need to go after the REAL offender, the Mexican ad agency that conceived and produced the Absolut ad campaign in the first place.

The best way to stick it to the Mexican ad agency over their incendiary propaganda attack is to go after their other accounts with the threat of boycott if they don’t sever their relationship with the very offensive ad agency.  If we are going to boycott Absolut, we should also boycott all other companies doing business with the agency that put out the Reconquista propaganda.

Sample memo to those who use Teran/TBWA as their ad agency in Mexico:

You may be aware of the problems Absolut vodka has had over an ad designed and run by the agency you are currently using in Mexico, Teran/TWBA.  The makers of Absolut have been forced to issue a public apology for that incendiary piece of Mexican propaganda and are now facing a boycott of their product in the US market by millions of angry Americans.  This will have a significant effect on the sale of Absolut to Pernod Ricard later this summer.  Should your company wish to avoid a boycott of your products, too, you need to find a different ad agency to represent your company in Mexico.  All companies associated with the very offensive Teran/TWBA, will be boycotted.  For the sake of your bottom line, it would be advisable for you to sever all ties to Teran/TWBA as soon as possible to avoid being included in the boycott.
