Pardon Ramos and Compean Now

December 17th, 2007

ramos_compeanThe supporters of Ramos and Compean sure get tired of beating the drum calling for their release when we continue to see that President Bush has zero compassion for them and in fact is probably responsible for urging their unjust prosecution, through his buddy Johnny “House of Death” Sutton.

Here’s an editorial from the Washington Times that sums up the facts in favor of releasing them quite nicely:

Last week, the White House released a list of 29 pardons issued by President Bush. It included drug dealers, carjackers, a moonshiner, a man convicted of stealing government property and another for receiving kickbacks in military procurement contracts. Conspicuously missing were former U.S. Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean — who are currently serving 11- and 12-year federal prison sentences, respectively, for shooting a suspected drug smuggler in the buttocks on Feb, 17, 2005, about 30 miles southeast of El Paso. The border agents were convicted by a federal jury on charges that included assault with a dangerous weapon; lying about the incident; and violating the alleged smuggler’s Fourth Amendment right to be protected against illegal search and seizure. The Ramos/Compean prosecutions are but one in a series of questionable ones undertaken against law enforcement personnel who used force against criminals or illegal aliens by U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton, a longtime political ally of Mr. Bush.

*snip*

There is a growing, bipartisan understanding in Congress that Ramos and Compean do not belong in prison. Lawmakers ranging from conservative Republicans like Mr. Rohrabacher and fellow California Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter to liberal Democrats like Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California and Rep. Bill Delahunt of Massachusetts have raised objects to the incarceration of Ramos and Compean. The president should correct this oversight now and pardon the men so they can be home with their families for Christmas.

Amen! I wish I could tell you how many times in the past year I have called the White House Comment Line (202-456-1112) to plea for the release of these innocent Border Patrol agents. These guys are in worse conditions than many suspected terrorists who are being held at Guatanamo Prison. They even have restrictions on the kind of Christmas cards that can be sent to them for crying out loud! Can you believe it - no cards with GLITTER on them? What the hell are these guys in solitary confinement going to do with GLITTER pray tell? Make a bomb maybe?

If you would like to send them some Christmas cheer here is how you can do it - this is from Chelene of Save Our State

Ramos & Compean may not know their appeal outcome until sometime in February. At this time, it looks like Ramos & Compean will spend Christmas in Federal prison. (A miracle could happen, so keep praying!!)

Joe Loya told me that his son-in-law will be in solitary confinement on Christmas eve and Christmas day so that the other prisoners can accept their guests on this holy holiday. What this means is that Nacho will be sitting in his solitary confinement cell during Christmas. Most likely the same for our other hero Compean.

So let’s join together to give them some Christmas cheer!!! Please send paper only Christmas cards to our heroes. (All Christmas cards with glitter, gloss, etc…will be returned to sender. Please send paper only cards.) If you can afford a little extra, send an unwrapped Christmas gift like paper photos (photos printed from your computer on office paper only); a magazine subscription or newspaper subscription (must come directly from publisher); or a book (no hardcover, paper only cover, no gloss).

Addresses below must be accurate and complete when sending:

Ignacio Ramos
#58079 - 180 FCI
Phoenix Federal Correctional Institution
37910 N. 45th Avenue
Phoenix, AZ 85086

Jose Compean
#58080180
Federal Correctional Institution Elkton
P.O. Box 10
Lisbon, OH 44432

And if you would like to send a Christmas card or gift to Monica and Joe Loya, please send to the following address:

The Ramos Family
P.O. Box 972925
El Paso, Texas 79997

Our heroes could use some Christmas cheer!! Thank you!!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Gilchrist’s endorsement of Huckabee

December 17th, 2007

Couldn’t have said this any better myself… Michelle Malkin knows how to give those right hooks to the chin for any politician who thinks they will get away with fooling the American public in this day and age of the Internet. Sheer folly!

Read the full article here at the Washington Times

Michelle Malkin   Dec 15th 2007

Every Democrat running for president thinks anti-illegal immigration activists are all racists and xenophobes. Do we really need a Republican nominee for president who thinks the same way?

Breakout Republican candidate Mike Huckabee, the soft-on-border control former governor of Arkansas, scored a jaw-dropping endorsement Tuesday from Jim Gilchrist, founder of the Minuteman Project. Despite a long gubernatorial record opposing employer sanctions and pushing tax-subsidized illegal alien education benefits, Mr. Huckabee won Mr. Gilchrist’s support by unveiling a last-minute, tough-sounding homeland security plan.

Trouble is, Mr. Huckabee has downright and longstanding contempt for his new bedfellows of convenience.

Just two years ago, Mr. Huckabee appeared before the open-borders Hispanic group, The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), preaching an open-door policy. According to the Arkansas News Bureau, Mr. Huckabee also criticized state legislation requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote and enhanced reporting of illegal aliens as un-Christian, un-American, irresponsible and anti-life — not to mention “inflammatory,” “race-baiting” and “demagoguery.”

Just last year, Mr. Huckabee lambasted opponents of the bipartisan “shamnesty” bill providing a mass pardon to illegal aliens as “driven by racism or nativism.” He called strict immigration enforcement — the kind he now supports — “sheer folly” in his campaign-timed book released earlier this year. He actively invited the Mexican government to establish a consulate in HucksterArkansas — giving its office a $1 per year special office space rate — so that its foreign officials could start dispensing security-undermining matricula consular ID cards to illegal aliens for banking and employment purposes. And he’s not only for government in-state illegal alien discounts, he’s for expanding them far beyond what the federal DREAM Act proposed.

But now that he needs to establish his border control bona fides, Mr. Huckabee is all honey. “Frankly, Jim,” he said to the Minuteman Project founder at a press conference in Iowa on Tuesday, “I’ve got to tell you there were times in the early days of the Minutemen I thought, ‘What are these guys doing, what are they about?’ I confess I owe you an apology.”

It’s Mr. Gilchrist and those who allow themselves to be snowed by Mr. Huckabee’s cynical conversion who’ll be sorry and deep in apology debt, I guarantee you. Mr. Huckabee showed his true colors at the Univision Spanish-language debate over the weekend when he pandered to the crowd by lamenting “racial profiling” of immigrants — while remaining silent about catch-and-release policies that fail to detain criminal aliens who go on to commit more heinous crimes because politically correct politicians and police chiefs are more concerned with being accused of “racial profiling” than protecting the public.

I also understand that this new Gilchrist-Huckabee alliance is trying to paint anyone who doesn’t agree with Gilchrist’s endorsement of Huckabee as “charlatans” and “hypocrites” and “liars”. Oh really? Well I’m here to tell you that I don’t agree with Gilchrist on this one and my disagreement is based upon FACTS. The fact is - Huckabee is your typical election year chameleon - promising anything to get votes. We see through this but apparently Gilchrist cannot for whatever reason. Gee could it be maybe MONEY motivating Gilchrist?

Here are some excerpts from an email that was sent out by the Minuteman Project - Jack Sharp - on behalf of Gilchrist - read the thread here at Alipac:

It was Huckabee who contacted Jim Gilchrist and asked him to read his nine point plan on immigration. Jim was excited that a “top tier” candidate understood the problem and had committed himself in writing to a workable plan to solve it. Jim did not come to this decision overnight. He and his closest associates researched primary sources and considered the fact that Huckabee was the only candidate in the top three Republican choices (Huckabee, Romney, Giuliani) with an immigration law enforcement advocacy platform.

Jim wrote a list of questions for Huckabee, which he asked him in person. Jim started that meeting with Huckabee stone-faced and unconvinced, but he left it in good spirits. For the first time in several years, Jim Gilchrist was optimistic about our nation’s future. A week later, he traveled to Iowa and formally endorsed Mike Huckabee for President of the United States. No Minuteman Project money was used for this trip.

Without so much as a phone call to Jim Gilchrist asking him why, several leaders of Minuteman fringe groups viciously attacked Jim and Mike Huckabee with the hopes of getting some cheap publicity for themselves. The same people who complain when someone quotes the propaganda of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) because of its bias were quoting comments by the Club for Growth against Huckabee. The Club For Growth is the same anti-gun, pro NAFTA, Giuliani supporting Club for Growth propaganda machine that pejoratively refers to the Minutemen as “vigilantes” and “militia types”.

It only took Simcox two days to pile on and take his cheap shot at Jim Gilchrist as well. He and his friend William Gheen (ALIPAC) have started a “destroy Gilchrist and Huckabee” campaign with help from among the kooks and zealots of the movement.

William Gheen, President of ALIPAC, has had a personal grudge against Jim Gilchrist since the Minuteman Project was founded. Gheen makes his living soliciting donations from unsuspecting Americans in the name of border security. What most people don’t know is just how much of the donor money coming into his organization Gheen pockets. He has never opened his books to the public or explained what happened to the money that many hard working people have given to him. William Gheen uses fear- mongering and race baiting to scare old people out of their savings with stories of “the savage invasion from the Southern border”.

When Gilchrist founded the Minuteman Project many patriots believed that Jim was doing more for the movement than all of the dozen of other activist organizations combined. This caused the donor money to dry up for Gheen and ALIPAC, and Simcox and MCDC. And, oh, how they ranted and cursed Gilchrist and the Minuteman Project!

To preserve their “cash cows”, the naïve American donor base that has already sent them millions of dollars, Simcox, Gheen, and other so-called secure-borders advocates have to attack Gilchrist’s endorsement of Mike Huckabee. If Huckabee is elected President he promises “in writing” (www.mikehuckabee.com) to secure the borders within two years, actually enforce immigration laws, and severely punish the unscrupulous employers that hire and exploit illegal alien labor. That certainly would end our mission and the need for a minuteman movement.

Mike Huckabee and Jim Gilchrist are threats to the continued financial security and commercial enterprises of these professional extremists and charlatans who make an earnest market in soliciting public donations to stop the illegal alien invasion crisis.

Fellow patriots, it is up to you now. You can join the charlatans in their witch hunt against Jim Gilchrist and his Minuteman Project, or reserve judgment until you can research the matters yourself. Meanwhile, Gilchrist’s Minuteman Project, which does not require “membership fees” to participate in saving America, stoically plods onward, relying on only a hope, a prayer, and a vision inspired by our Founding Fathers.

It’s amazing to me to see how quickly people turn on each other and attack when we all should be on the same team. I stand on the sidelines watching all this mudslinging and I make up my own mind and without anybody else telling me what to think - I have decided that I don’t agree with Gilchrist. I am NOT taking sides. I just think Gilchrist is wrong and he will in the end find that out. A politician’s track record has much more to say than what is said during an election year.

Think about how many promises have been made in the year leading up to a Presidential election and how quickly those promises are broken. Case in point. George W Bush. Gee do you think maybe that is enough of an example for sticking it to his voter base after getting into office - especially once he became a lame duck “you can’t hurt me now” President? He’s like a drunken Roman Emperor sitting in that White House and I just pray for the day he is no longer our President and with any luck, we will actually get someone worthwhile there.. but I don’t see many candidates in the current lineup who are fit to do that except for Tom Tancredo and maybe Duncan Hunter. Everyone else is a fake on fighting illegal immgration. These two are the real deal.

If Jim Gilchrist wants to “drink the Huckabee Kool-Aid” then let him. He will find out soon enough that he will be viewed as a sell-out to the majority of patriotic Americans, including this one.

Here are some other views on why Mike Huckabee is not your friend if you are a patriotic American who wants illegal immigration stopped .

Chuck Baldwin of Renew America writes :

In addition, Dr. Jerome Corsi reports that “Financial inducements arranged by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee to establish a Mexican consular office in Little Rock may have violated state law, according to an Arkansas attorney.”

Writing for World Net Daily, Dr. Corsi exposed the fact that Mike Huckabee “worked with some of the state’s most prominent and politically powerful businesses to establish the [Mexican] consulate as a magnet for drawing illegal immigrants to the state to accept low-paying jobs.”

Over at “Know Your Rino” you can find some more enlightening factoids about this Huckster guy in great detail for all you “charlatans” out there who see through this charade. Some excerpts:

‘National media folks like David Brooks, dealing in surface appearances only, rave about what a nice guy Huckabee is, and a moral exemplar to boot. If they only did a little homework, they would discover a guy with a thin skin, a nasty vindictive streak, and a long history of imbroglios about questionable ethics,’ Quin Hillyer wrote yesterday at Spectator.org.

“Trevino confirmed he was state director of the League of United Latin American Citizens, also known as LULAC, an activist group strongly advocating for rights of Hispanic immigrants in the U.S., when on Oct. 3, 2003, he accompanied Huckabee in a state airplane to visit [President Vicente] Fox in Mexico.” Source: Jerome Corsi, www.WorldNetDaily.com, 11/1/07

‘This arrangement to bring a Mexican consulate to Little Rock and the manner in which it occurred amounts to a “consul-gate,” ’ Sexton told WND. ‘I’m an Arkansas citizen, why doesn’t the state lease me some property and furniture for $1 per year?’

Robert Trevino, commissioner of Arkansas Rehabilitation Services, told WND he and Huckabee helped arrange state and private financial support to induce Mexico to establish the consulate as a business development ‘quid pro quo.’

“Trevino signed on July 7, 2006, a ‘Facilities Use Agreement’ with Mexican consular officials to rent state government office space for $1 a year on the second floor of the Arkansas Rehabilitation Services building at 26 Corporate Hills in Little Rock.”

“Sexton points to Arkansas law, which appears to prohibit state agencies, including Arkansas Rehabilitation Services, from sub-leasing government space.

“Ark. Code Ann. § 22-2-114(C)(i) provides: ‘After July 1, 1975, no state agency shall enter into or renew or otherwise negotiate a lease between itself as lessor or lessee and a nongovernmental or other government lessor or lessee.’

“ ‘Even more offensive, there was nothing in the lease or other agreements that would have prevented the Mexican consulate from providing legal assistance to illegal aliens,’ Sexton told WND. ‘We have information that the Mexican consulate operating out of the Arkansas Rehabilitation Facility was providing legal assistance even to Mexican illegal aliens who were accused of committing violent crimes in Arkansas.’

“Sexton said he and other critics have ‘called on the Arkansas attorney general’s office to set the lease aside and recover the value of the lease.’ …”

Need we say more? Apparently Jim Gilchrist DID NOT do very good homework and I believe he’s made the worst decision of his career. I used to support Gilchrist and considered him a victim in the struggle to maintain control of MMP. I’m having second thoughts on that one now as well. WHAT WAS HE THINKING you have to wonder?

Tennessee Couple Faces $7,854 Tax Bill Due To Illegal Alien Identity Theft

December 16th, 2007

Here’s a perfect example of how identity theft affects regular Americans who are increasingly victimized by the flood of illegal aliens raping us, murdering us, crashing into us with their unlicensed and uninsured cars and stealing from us. Will your identity be their next hot seller in the identity theft underground?

H/T to Digger at Digger’s Realm for finding this story which you can find here at this link.

Lora and Jamey Costner are getting a taste of what illegal alien identity theft causes. They received a nice $7,854 tax bill from the IRS for wages they earned at Koch Foods for the 2005 tax year. The only problem is that neither one of them has ever worked at Koch Foods. They are the victims of the “victimless crime” of identity theft that is used by virtually every illegal alien in this country.

Two illegal aliens used their identities to gain employment and now the Costner’s are facing the chance that the IRS could start garnishing their wages any day and removing the “owed” money straight from their bank account without warning.

In addition, Mrs Costner was denied worker’s compensation when she was hurt on the job because she was “working” at Koch Foods.

Don’t worry though, these illegal aliens are only here to work and nobody really is a victim of them.

Remind me again how illegal aliens benefit our country? Even better, why don’t you ask the Costners about that now and see how they feel about helping some illegal aliens achieve their American Dream…. I think that Koch Foods should be ordered to pay the Costner’s IRS bill and any other costs associated with clearing their name. It is because Koch Foods did not check the identities used by these illegal aliens that the Costner’s are suffering so I think not only should Koch Foods be fined for hiring illegal aliens but they should pay reparations to the Costners and once they dig up all the other stolen identities being used by workers at Koch Foods, they should compensate THOSE unknowing victims as well.

Our local immigration group has pondered this factoid. How many people have had their identities stolen but they just don’t know it yet? How many times has ICE uncovered the use of someone else’s identity but FAILED TO NOTIFY THE VICTIM? If one illegal alien is using someone else’s identity, you can be sure that this identity is “on the street”. Shouldn’t it behoove the government to INFORM THE VICTIMS OF IDENTITY THEFT *BEFORE* THEY BECOME A FINANCIAL VICTIM? Just a thought. Instead we have walls between the Social Security Administration and INS and ICE so that they cannot cooperate in this way.

I’d like to see some legislator propose legislation to do just that. Put the responsibility on ICE and the Social Security Administration to form a cooperative working agreement such that, when ICE finds an illegal alien using someone’s identity, they be required to INFORM THE VICTIM OF THIS BREACH OF THEIR IDENTITY so the victim can take measures to protect themselves from financial ruin. It’s the least a nanny state government can do for us..

Southern Poverty Law Center thinks Border Agents are guilty and we are all “nativists”

December 11th, 2007

Ok Southern Poverty Law Center, let’s just forget about the fact that Johnny Sutton used the immunity testimony of a career Mexican drug smuggler to convict these men AND in the process he applied a gun statute that was designed ONLY for the application to CRIMINALS who use a FIREARM in the commission of a CRIME.

Apparently, the SPLC thinks being a Border Patrol Agent is a crime as does Johnny Sutton and our Justice Department.

Never mind that the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals DERIDED Johnny Sutton for overzealous prosecution of these two agents just about two weeks ago. Apparently the SPLC didn’t get that little tidbit of news. Oh and.. apparently the SPLC doesn’t realize that the prosecution’s STAR WITNESS, Aldrete-Davila, is now sitting in prison awaiting charges of yet MORE DRUG SMUGGLING. The prosecution does not now have a credible witness upon which to base the entire WITCH HUNT case against these two Border Patrol agents. So guess what SPLC, they will probably have to THROW THE APPEAL OUT because the other evidence used to convict these agents is WEAK unless they have the lying scumbag DRUG DEALER to say what they want him to say.

The Southern Poverty Law Center and their supposed “Hate Watch” crap disgusts me completely. What a bunch of hypocrites! You will notice that the ONLY groups on their “Hate Watch” lists have to do with fighting illegal immigration. They don’t have the Mexica-Movement on that list and there is no more hateful a group than that - they want to erase the Gringo from the United States altogether. But they’re not on their “hate list”. But you know who is? Two sweet ladies who formed a citizen’s group to fight illegal immigration. They are not vigilantes. They are not hateful. They want our immigration laws enforced and for that, they earned a place on the SPLC hate watch list. It is despicable to see how BIASED this group is against PATRIOTIC AMERICANS. To them, Patriotic Americans who want to SAVE THEIR COUNTRY from the ILLEGAL ALIEN INVASION are nothing more than “nativists”. Go ahead and try to label us you scumbags. The truth will prevail and your lame propaganda will go NOWHERE but into the ears of your BIASED and RACIST audience.

Nativists Make Heroes of Border Shooters

Border Patrol agents Ignacio “Nacho” Ramos and José Alonso Compean attacked an unarmed border-crosser who was trying to surrender, shot at him 15 times and wounded him as he fled, then tampered with the crime scene and failed to report the shooting as required to their supervisors. For their crimes, a federal court in Texas sentenced the men last year to terms of 11 and 12 years in prison.

Now, courtesy of the nativist movement, they are heroes.

Lou Dobbs, the CNN anchor obsessed with undocumented immigration, has featured their case at least 131 times, including a one-hour special, according to the September issue of Texas Monthly. They’ve been glorified by anti-immigration websites and lionized by politicians like U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.). Even the American Freedom Riders, a nativist biker gang, calls them “persecuted.”

Why are so many associated with the law-and-order right singing the praises of these two felons? Because the man who was shot turned out later to have been part of a marijuana-smuggling operation. Ramos and Compean didn’t know that at the time — the man was on foot and tried to surrender, and the agents only found the drugs in a van after he managed to flee on foot back to Mexico, badly wounded. Dobbs describes the officers as “these two outstanding Border Patrol agents.”

Dobbs, along with many others, thinks they should go free.

Rival Minutemen leaders Chris Simcox and Jim Gilchrist were both at a Sept. 8 fundraiser for Ramos’ family that was hosted by the American Freedom Riders. More than $38,000 was contributed and over 400 people attended to show their “absolute disdain for [President] Bush’s ‘dear friend’ Johnny Satan” — a reference to prosecutor Johnny Sutton, the highly conservative U.S. attorney who had worked for Bush in Texas and Washington. Others, like Dobbs, have also savaged Sutton.

Republican congressmen Dana Rohrabacher (Calif.) and John Culberson (Texas) have even claimed that the agents are suffering prison conditions “far worse than those of suspected terrorists being held” at Guantánamo Bay in Cuba.

What no one has offered is any proof that the two are innocent.

Now, the nativist fervor is expanding to others similarly situated — in particular, Border Patrol agent Nicholas Corbett, who last January shot dead Mexican construction worker Francisco Javier Dominguez-Rivera a few yards north of the border. Corbett claimed he shot in self-defense after being threatened with a rock, but forensic and video evidence, along with accounts of several witnesses detained with Dominguez-Rivera, contradicted him, suggesting instead that the worker was shot without provocation after he was forced to kneel directly in front of Corbett. Corbett faces trial on second-degree murder charges in February.,/p>

Anti-immigration activists claim Corbett is being railroaded due to pressure from Mexico. In October, the American Freedom Riders rallied to support him, describing him as “another agent charged with murder for doing his job.”

Intelligence Report
Winter 2007

Oh and just one more thing. WE ARE NOT ANTI-IMMIGRATION!!!! You can stop repeating that lie now. We are and always have been ENTIRELY against ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION AND IMMIGRATION ARE NOT THE SAME THING. We support the LEGAL IMMIGRATION into this country of people who help enhance our country. We do NOT support people who cut in line in front of legal immigrants and who disrespect our laws by sneaking into our country in the dead of night.

Trying to paint us as “xenophobes” or “racists” is totally a lie. This country is nicer to immigrants THAN ANY OTHER COUNTRY ON THIS PLANET. ANNUALLY WE ADMIT CLOSE TO 2 MILLION LEGAL IMMIGRANTS INTO THIS COUNTRY. YOU CAN STOP WITH THE “ANTI-IMMIGRANT” LIE ANY TIME YOU WOULD LIKE TO ACTUALLY REPRESENT THE TRUTH.

I’d also like to include an excellent comment I received on my other blog “Stop the Invasion”, just today which perfectly reflects how we, as Patriotic Americans, share a common bond with LEGAL IMMIGRANTS in wanting to stop illegal immigration:

My parents came to this country legally in the mid-50s. They took the time to learn the language, familiarize themselves with American history, and became very productive members of society through hard work, dedication, and perseverance. When I see another illegal immigrant walking into a welfare office, or showing up to a hospital to birth a child, or any other number of circumstances, where they will simply walk out in the end and WE, the taxpayers, end up footing the bill…I become livid. They then spit in our face by claiming that we should accommodate their culture by learning to speak their language…when they’re nearly all too damn lazy to learn but a few words in ours. I’m fluent in Italian, French, Greek, Latin, and of course, English. I’ve had many opportunities to learn Spanish, and have neglected to do so every time…and for a very important reason: I visit Italy, France, Greece, and many Latin speaking countries fairly frequently with my family. Why in the hell would I ever visit Mexico? I hate tequila, and much prefer beaches that aren’t littered with trash and sketchy Mexicans. I’m also fed up with seeing every other children’s program trying to teach my three-year-old son how to speak Spanish, when he should be learning English. I’ve taken the liberty to teach him some words in Italian, because my family just loves it when he says “Hello” or “Goodbye” in their native tongue. Besides this, his priority should be to learn the language of this country…not the invaders to the south. Something must be done about the immigration problem, or I fear that I’ll one day be forced to leave this country and return to Italy, or elsewhere in Europe…or hell, maybe even Canada. If we can’t rely on our own president to address this serious issue, who can we rely on?
