Mandatory program ‘treats’ politically incorrect attitudes

A mandatory University of Delaware program requires residence hall students to acknowledge that “all whites are racist” and offers them “treatment” for any incorrect attitudes regarding class, gender, religion, culture or sexuality they might hold upon entering the school, according to a civil rights group.

“Somehow, the University of Delaware seems terrifyingly unaware that a state-sponsored institution of higher education in the United States does not have the legal right to engage in a program of systematic thought reform. The First Amendment protects the right to freedom of conscience – the right to keep our innermost thoughts free from governmental intrusion. It also protects the right to be free from compelled speech,” said a letter from Samantha Harris, director of legal and public advocacy for The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education to university President Patrick Harker.

The organization cited excerpts from the university’s Office of Residence Life Diversity Education Training documents, including the statement:

“A RACIST: A racist is one who is both privileged and socialized on the basis of race by a white supremacist (racist) system. ‘The term applies to all white people (i.e., people of European descent) living in the United States, regardless of class, gender, religion, culture or sexuality. By this definition, people of color cannot be racists, because as peoples within the U.S. system, they do not have the power to back up their prejudices, hostilities, or acts of discrimination….’”

The education program also notes that “reverse racism” is “a term created and used by white people to deny their white privilege.” And “a non-racist” is called “a non-term,” because, the program explains, “The term was created by whites to deny responsibility for systemic racism, to maintain an aura of innocence in the face of racial oppression, and to shift the responsibility for that oppression from whites to people of color (called ‘blaming the victim’).”

Generalizations are dangerous in any way. We are often accused of lumping all illegal aliens together as if they are criminals when we cite the increase in crime that results from not securing our borders and not knowing what kind of people are coming into our country.. a fact mind you. So our critics say - you can’t say that ALL illegal aliens are criminals because a few of them are. Well I say to this University - you can’t say that ALL white people are racists just by virtue of their being WHITE. Sorry but that is painting a wide brush over people because of their skin color and in fact, the very fact that he does view all white people as one thing is in itself RACIST. The funny thing is - these people saying this are WHITE. Is this apologetic ass-kissing guilt of whites taken to new heights or what????

Imagine the roles reversed and someone at a University declared that all Blacks are racist. We would see a virtual CIRCUS parade of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and all the other “black only” activists that see the world through a the prism of the chip on their shoulders. Where are OUR representatives in the legal community to descend upon this University with all the wrath of our legal might?

I searched for Jim Tweedy and found his name listed among the “allies” of the “Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgendered Community Office” at University of Delaware. So this same University actually has a Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgendered Community Office for crying out loud! If you care at ALL about what kind of education your children are getting - I would think a caring parent would NEVER want their child to be bathed in this kind of liberal SLOP trying to masquerade as EDUCATION. I guess we have to start home schooling our kids for college now too?

And in 2002, apparently James Tweedy received a “Voice of Inclusion” Medal from the American College Personnel Association. I guess he is continuing on with his great “inclusion” work by including all whites in his racist definition? Here is what was said about him upon receiving this award in 2002:

“Having mentioned some of the ways that Jim strives to achieve inclusion and defeat ignorance through his work, I think it is most important to understand that his dedication does not stop with the Oiffice of Residence Life. Jim leads by example.”

Uh huh.. he leads by example all right.. An example of what NOT TO DO AS A UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR.

And here are some examples of statements that would NOT BE TOLERATED yet they are the same kind of broad paintbrush over a group of people simply for their identities:

All Muslims are Terrorists

All Blacks are Criminals

All Hispanics are Illegal Aliens

All Minutemen are White Supremacists

All American Patiots are Vigilantes

The very NATURE of lumping all people together into one group because of their similar RACE or SKIN COLOR or RELIGION or BELIEF is what is RACIST and IGNORANT and INTOLERANT.

I cannot BELIEVE that ANY University of “higher” education would tolerate this kind of IGNORANCE among its staff. The fact that they do says a LOT about the University of Delaware.
